Since March of this year I have been on a mission to binge watch every episode of Survivor from way back in Season 1 all the way through the end of Season 50. Having never seen a single episode of the show, it was a task that carried a certain amount of heft. It wasn’t something that I necessarily wanted to do. Remember the main fact here: I had never watched the show, because I never had an interest in it. But two close friends coerced me into watching just one season and I was hooked. After that first season (which was actually Season 37) I started watching them in chronological order. My goal was to finish in time to watch Season 50. Then the internet interrupted my plan. I started getting Season 50 spoilers as the show aired. That caused me to change my plan and start watching the seasons that featured the returning players for S50. It was a big task, and sadly, I was not able to sync it up and finish the first 49 before 50 was done. I didn’t let any of that deter me. By the time the Season 50 champ had been crowned I still had several season left to plow through.
Recovery puts challenges into our lives. Often times these challenges are things that we have previously turned down. The “I don’t wanna” muscle is usually strong with people. Now I am sitting in front of my iPad with the Season 49 finale playing. It’s the last episode of 727 episodes. That’s over 30 full days of watching. One month of television that I have conquered in 138 days. That’s an average of 5.25 episode every single day. Like I said, recovery is all about big challenges. A lot of those challenges might not make sense to the people in our lives, but they mean something to us.
So I’m gonna do this. I do wanna! Others are laughing but I will meet my goal. So I’ll leave this post here so that I can sit back and…
–Rise Up!!
