Weekenders

Mrs. MoM and I took a weekend trip to the mountains. It was a bit of a couple’s weekend with another couple. We had plans to maybe hike, maybe walk around in the Village, maybe play games, maybe do some devotional discussions. I say “maybe’ because we weren’t locked in to anything other than the VRBO that we rented. Everything else was up for negotiation. On Friday we all packed everything into the trunk of our car and headed for the mountains. If we brought it, we had it. If we left it, we needed to try something else. As it turned out, we remembered almost everything, but we still needed to take a trip to the super market to get some fresh veggies.

As I move through our recovery we find ourselves in situations where we might need to pack up and go somewhere else. Hopefully we are prepared for wherever we need to go. But if not, we have people who can help. That’s why our accountability partners and sponsors are so critical. I might find myself on a metaphorical journey and be fresh out of toothpaste. Knowing how to adapt can keep me on the straight and narrow sobriety path. If we start to fall, they help us to…
