Back from Extinction

I’ve been working on a 50 season binge of the show Survivor. It’s my biggest binge challenge to date. 50 seasons equals 727 total episodes. I’ve seen almost 600 since March. That’s a lot of work on my part, and no, Mrs Blogs is not impressed in the least.

On a recent season they introduced a concept called the Edge of Extinction. I was a place where players who got voted off were sent to basically have a minimal existence. Nothing to do all day, very little shelter, and just enough food not to starve. What little food they were given required them to hike to the top of a substantial hill every day. It looked miserable. Yet the players persevered. At the end of an unnamed time one player was able to play their way back into the game. That player eventually won the whole season.

In recovery we are often faced with the need to persevere through a wilderness. Sometimes we lose everything that seems necessary in life. Yet if we are able to keep on keeping on, we make it through the darkness and see the morning light. When life gets to you, buckle down and…

—Rise Up!!
