We have lots of holidays where we are encouraged to remember something. Perhaps it’s a President, perhaps an event. Today we are encouraged to remember and honor veterans here in the USA. In other places around the world (especially British Commonwealth countries) it is called Remembrance Day. It marks the end of the first World War. Back then it was called the War to End All Wars. How’d that work out for ya?
So here we are “remembering” once again. I would suggest that if we actually spent more time remembering things we might not subject ourselves to the repetition of failure that seems to follow us around before we really get into recovery. We act on an impulse. We react to something that is happening now without thinking about the result of that action tomorrow or remembering how it went for us last time.
When I am actually working my recovery I spend time remembering the past so that it doesn’t become my future. So today thank a veteran. Spend a little time looking backward and you might…
–Rise Up!!
