Saturday I did something that I absolutely hate to do: I woke up early. I’m not talking about 7 o’clock instead of 7:30 here; no, it was 3:30 in the morning. I could make a strong argument that that time of the day might actually still qualify as “late night” to me! The reason for this peculiar alarm setting was that my church was pouring concrete for the footings of our new auditorium. 100+ yards of concrete for anyone who is counting!
Sometimes we need to make sacrifices to achieve better things. Sometimes we need to stretch out of our comfort zones (and our beds) to help our families and friends. If you know me at all, you are probably aware of my aversion to mornings. I’d just as soon begin the day around 8, but I didn’t get to pick. I knew that my church needed my help so I answered the bell.
