Yesterday was Father’s Day. On the evening of Mother’s Day I was already planning how my special day would play out. As things go, I found myself sitting in an empty house on Father’s Day. One daughter lives in Hawaii, another lives in Utah, yet another was at Disneyland with her family. My wife was in Tennessee visiting her dad and my son was… well who knows? So I sat alone and watched the Women’s World Cup. Then I got a text from an “adopted” daughter and her fiancé thanking me for being a father figure to them both.
