This weekend we hosted a Hope Event for Prison Fellowship Ministries at the prison where I volunteer. It was the first one that we have done at this facility so we weren’t really certain what to expect. All I can say is that it was phenomenal!
We had a former inmate who shared his story through music, we had testimonies, we sang worship songs, and we prayed. Most of all, we just brought love and light into a place that sometimes finds itself lacking in those commodities.
All we needed to do to make this day a success was to be able to love people that some others might label as unworthy of love. My Jesus gave me clemency for my sin. That makes me worthy. He did the same for you. He did the same for all of the men and women behind bars. Everyone of us has access to His healing Grace.
You might not be able to get into a prison. So what can you do for these people? Pray. Pray. Pray. The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, so I’m asking everyone of you to set aside a few moments each day to pray for them.
Hebrews 13:3 says “Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself.”
Take a moment to hit your knees, so that we can all…
–Rise Up!!
