So I’m sitting here on the island of Hawaii. We are spending the week with our daughter, son in law, and grandson. It’s wonderful. As the bumper sticker reads “Ho hum, just another crummy day in paradise.” We’ve gone on hikes and picked coffee. It’s just amazing.
But now we see that Hurricane Olivia has our island in its sights. In a few days the sun will get replaced with clouds and torrential rains. The cool breeze will turn into strong winds. Everything changes, even when it’s going great, things out of my control can bring their weight to bear on my life. It reminds me to keep the Serenity Prayer close in mind. Knowing the difference between the things I can and can’t control is critical. So tomorrow we hike, and Tuesday we batten down the hatches, but in time we will all…

Yes, me too. It would be a bummer to be trapped inside. But I realize it takes a lot of rain to make a jungle grow!
