Halloween is rapidly approaching. The talk in the office today is the two of us who will be in on Friday trying to decide what theme to adhere to. It’s fun to be someone else for the day.
We could have all kinds of debates about the “rightness” and “wrongness” of Halloween, but for now let’s just say that the general premise is to wear costumes and get candy. With that in mind, the idea of a costume is to be “not you”.
When I got to my desk I found a glow-in-the-dark bow tie. So even when dressing up, people still understand that the wrapping on the outside does not really change the person underneath.
When I spend time in denial it’s like Halloween: I’m trying to change reality by using a mask. In actuality nothing changes and people will still see the truth that lies beneath. Even with a great costume people eventually figure out who we are.
So go and dress up; have some fun; get some candy (and bring some to me!); but remember that you are you and God made you just the way He wants you.
-Rise up!
Well written, I enjoyed it. Keep up the great work 🙂
