So we hear the “Four more years” chant with politicians all the time. I was thinking about that as I added another candle to my own birthday count. Our regular birthdays and our recovery birthdays are just ways to keep track of the calendar. The beautiful thing is that I am made new every day. I can get a fresh start with my higher power – Jesus Christ.
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
This is not a call to action in terms of going out and sinning in order to receive a new blessing from God. God will refresh me each morning whether I sin or not, and it’s so much better when I can live my life in such a way that I keep moving onward and upward instead of the familiar two steps forward, one step back. This is why I love my Blue Chip so much. It’s the First Timer’s or One Day chip and it reminds me that I am always able to start on the right path regardless of where I’ve been traveling. Don’t let the world get you down. Don’t listen to the voices that cry out to your that you have failed. Listen instead to the voice of the One who has given us new life through His unending love and grace!
