Random Acts of Kindness

So I just heard on the radio that today, Feb 17, is Random Acts of Kindness Day. I think that is fabulous. The thing is, I think my acts of kindness should be intentional. It’s great to go and do something nice for a person “just ‘cuz”, but wouldn’t it be better if we were going out and purposefully doing things to make people’s lives better? It doesn’t need to be anything huge or monumental, it just needs to be something that you are doing with intent.

So what’s the difference and who cares?!? If I just do something nice because the whim hits me then I may or may not do it on any given day. But if my actions are planned that means that I have a goal, an attainable goal, for each day, or half day, or hour, or however nice I want to be. This means that I am LOOKING for opportunities to make someone’s day or life better. I am not proposing that you plan the things that you are going to do, I’m just saying that you should have a mission to do something for someone. Not only will this improve a random person’s day, but it will have the added bonus of making your life a little brighter as well.

That’s all for now, go and be kind!

  1. Great thought…intentionality is something often put so far behind me that I forget it completely. My random act of kindness is this —I want to tell you how much I appreciate your reminder.
