Today I had a work day for the ministry. We called it “Manual Labor Day”. We had a lot of tedious tasks to perform, so having about 8 people show up was great. We got a ton of stuff done that would have taken me a long time to accomplish on my own, so I was very grateful to everyone who volunteered their time and effort. I was so grateful that I bought lunch. Pizza. Cheap. Good
I didn’t notice that one guy had not eaten anything. I didn’t even realize it until a few hours later when I was talking to his wife and she mentioned the fact the he is on a fast for church. One that he invited me to participate in. I didn’t do the math that he was starting today! Ouch. So there I am shoveling in slice after greasy slice whilst he sits quietly and watches. I felt like a supreme turkey!
That’s how life can be though. We aren’t always aware of what other people are doing or going through. Conversely, they don’t always know everything about us either. We need to take the stance of my friend who not only sat quietly and never mentioned it, but also forgave me with a laugh and a smile when I called to apologize for being so thick headed. I felt like a goober, but he helped me to…
–Rise Up!!
