As I left my house this morning to go to the annual Celebrate Recovery Summit Mrs. Mom noticed two planets in the 5 am sky. Of course, I am not typically awake at this early hour, so it was a relatively new sight for me. I’ve seen these planets before, just not at this time of day. (If you’ve seen them at this time of day, my condolences on your crazy schedule!)

As I drove down the highway Mr. Sunshine started to exercise his Daily Authority. Eventually I could no longer see the planets. Try as I might they had disappeared. Now it’s one hour later and the sun has just breached the eastern horizon. I can no longer chase the thing that grabbed my attention at the start of my trip. Now here’s your recovery hook: life is constantly changing. The things that seemed to be good to me when I started my recovery journey don’t show up anymore. As I get more and more numbers on my sobriety coins I see a much bigger world.I’ll still remember that morning star but now I can see the rest of this big, beautiful world that God made for me.
