This weekend something wonderful happened. Over the past few months we have been running a new Prison Fellowship Academy class at the prison where we serve. It is filled with a wide variety of men, most of whom are already Christians. We do have one man who is new to faith. He was born to Buddhist parents, but if you asked him he would say that he was an atheist.
Over his time in incarceration he has been exploring Christianity and has seen things that defy explanation. Since he has been in our class he has experienced the love and joy that comes from Christ. His eyes and his heart have been open to the possibility of becoming a Christian. Then yesterday he said “For the first time ever I have to say ‘Thank Jesus Christ’.” The room was quiet. Then the men celebrated his statement.
We are never 100% certain of the effect and impact we might be having. None of us on our own we the one to convince this particular man that Jesus was the way. But we all played a part. Sometimes it is difficult to drag ourselves out of the house and do the work. But times like yesterday are a great reminder that we might not be the only person who benefits from our labor. You never know who will be the next person to…
