I just spent a few days at my youngest daughter’s house. We’ve go three grand babies there, with a fourth on the way at the end of summer. We love the kids, but lets be honest here, the grand kids are the attraction! One of my favorite parts of any visit to this particular clump of grand children is that they love to come wake Papa up in the morning. They each have their own style. Eleanore (6) sneaks in on tiptoe and ever so gently kisses me on the cheek and whispers “Good morning, Papa”. Ezra (4) Storms in like a roaring desert wind. He will come down the stairs stomp-running and open the door with all the grace of King Kong atop the Empire State building. He then lets out a loud “Rawr”, giggles, and runs out with the same elegance as he entered. Oliver (2) will simply stand at the top of the stairs and holler “Paaaapaaaaaa” as if he were trying out for the role of Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire. Three kids with three very different approaches, but they all work.
In my recovery I know the goal, but I don’t always know how I will get there. I might need to use a different method than my sponsor or my accountability partners used. I might even need to use a different method than I have used in the past, but I know how to get there. Take what ever path you need, in order to…
–Rise Up!!
