I hesitate to write that title just a few days before I fly, but let’s see what happens…
Yesterday we went to the prison and were met with delays. Count took longer that expected, which meant that chow started later than expected, which meant that the men didn’t get to class at the time we expected.
The Serenity Prayer reminds us to be award of the things we can and can’t change. This helps us to determine where to focus our efforts and where to let go. Prison requires serenity. It could have been one of those times where we rant and rave, but to what end? It wouldn’t help. It would only show us to be ungrateful and difficult. Sure we lost almost half of our time with them men, but the time we had was a blessing. It made us worship just a little harder in order to push through our disappointment.
Things won’t always go as planned. But they will always, always, always go “as is”. When I can learn to be ok with that and make the best of each situation, I can truly…
