Sometimes our past behavior gets brought back into life. People find it lying on the side of the road and try to re-enact the whole Good Samaritan routine on its lifeless body. A little CPR, a little rescue breathing, maybe even slapping some paddles on it…”Clear!”…anything to help people remember who we used to be. Instead of normal life saving techniques, the modern method usually involves social media blasts.
Here’s my advice on this type of thing. I speak from experience, so indulge me if you will. Hurt people, hurt people. These people are hurting. I don’t know what their particular hurt might be, but it’s there somewhere. Hurt people need prayer. So we pray for those who would see us fail. Yup, as strange as that sounds, that is what we are called to do. We also need to understand that what they are doing is an emotional reaction to something. Emotional reactions and decisions are very rarely well thought out and rational. Trying to reason with a person who is in the midst of emotion is a fool’s errand. This goes back to “Show Up and Shut Up”. Just let them vent. Then pray. Then pray. Then pray some more. You may never see them heal. But in all of your own time in prayer, you will see yourself…
–Rise Up!!
