This morning Your MoM is just a wee bit jet lagged. After arriving back in the mainland at 11:30 in the evening on Saturday, we proceeded to have a slow deplaning episode which saw us arriving on the curb outside of Bradley International Terminal at around 12:30 in the morning. Follow that up with a long drive out into the desert and my need to wind down with some video games when I got home, I didn’t get to sleep until around three in the morning. When you factor in that the time changed from Daylight Savings back to Standard as we drove home, that is an effective 4 am. This morning I sit bleary-eyed with my morning cuppa listening to my morning Beethoven and I am trying to sort it all out.
Then my computer throws me a twist. Nothing is clicking on the web browser. I tried restarting the browser but it just froze. Uggh. Time for a reboot. One pleasant F major “Bong….” from my Mac and a brief wait later I am hard at it, typing away to you, Dear Reader.
Recovery often requires a reboot to get everything back in order. Things happen. Stuff goes wrong. Gremlins enter the picture. Heck, you could even argue that recovery is a major life reboot and I would give you no kickback. As an IT guy who was the son of an IT guy I know that resolving problems often means you need to reboot. The beauty of a reboot is that it starves the electricity for the machine. The problem isn’t buried or ignored, it is completely eradicated. Things begin to work again.
So when things start getting wonky in life and recovery it might be time to find a power button. Hold that rascal down and get ready to…
–Rise Up!!
