Re-coat

I’ve been working together with Mrs MoM trying to redo some old church pews. We sanded and stained them together, then the final step was to put some urethane on them. Since they will be for outside seating, I decided to use boat spar urethane. The first one turned out ok, then we did a second. The second turned out WAY better. We had learned some tricks and techniques along the way to give us a better result. That meant that we needed to return to the first and out on another coat of spar.

It was a drag to have to redo the first work, but in order to get a better final result, that was what the doctor ordered. I propped up the pew in various positions over a number of days in order to put a final coat on. I acted like I was buttering up the boss and laid it on thick. Then Bev pointed out the areas where I needed to do some touch-up work.

She acted a lot like a sponsor and pointed out areas where I thought I had done ok, but from a different perspective, she could see the mistakes that I overlooked. Her extra set of eyes helped me to…
