I’ve been working on my waist line since I returned home from a recent visit to the beach. Let’s just say that the pictures were less than flattering and leave it at that. With some dedication and focus I have been able to shed a few pounds and and feeling better about myself.
This weekend we had my daughter and her family visiting and they all know how much Papa loves donuts, so the kiddos were all excited to make a donut run with Papa this morning before they hit the road.
Please read this carefully, because I am not advocating for relapse. My weight was a small pride and health issue, but I am not in recovery from food addiction. The donut run was something fun and relatively harmless that my grand kids look forward to. We went to the local donut shop (you know the one, Big Steve in North Carolina!) and grabbed a small bag of donuts. I even got one for myself.
The story here isn’t that I burned a few calories on a donut. The story is that I was able to participate in clean family fun without going overboard. I had part (let’s be honest, most) of one small donut that I shared with the kids. It was a great time and it will be a memory for them as they grow older.
Getting out and doing fun things with the family was my way to…
–Rise Up!!

One response to “Donut Run”
