Clouds

Yesterday I woke up to clear skies. To borrow a line from the Who, I could see for miles and miles. we are visiting the Kona coast of the Big Island and counting Haleakala across the Channel on Maui, I could see 5 volcanoes. No clouds on any of them and the only remaining volcano near me was Kilauea which was behind almost 15,000 feet of mountain blocking my view.

Today I am in the same spot and I can see a grand total of zero peaks! None at all. Clouds are nestled atop all of the summits that I could see just one day ago.

In recovery, sometimes we have clarity, and sometimes things are hard to see. It doesn’t change the truth. Those 5 volcanoes haven’t gone anywhere, they just have clouds blocking me from seeing them. We don’t change how we act because we can’t see the goal clearly, we just keep moving on so that we can…
