I Can’t Hear You

This morning finds your MoM sitting with his Mom in a waiting room. She keeps asking us to repeat ourselves because she can’t hear us.

She is not wearing her hearing aids…again…

Now, this was her decision, as it always is, but she’s decided that it is the fault of her audiologist and their office staff. Many years ago she got confused about how her rechargeable batteries work. She forgets to charge them and she blames the office.

So now she doesn’t wear them and it’s someone else’s fault.

In recovery we sometimes do the wrong things. We do them even though we know that they are the wrong things. We might even decide to pin the blame elsewhere, just to make ourselves feel better about it all.

That doesn’t make it right!

We might need to take a good hard look at ourselves in order to…

— Rise Up!!
