128

For quite some time I’ve had a morning routine that includes coffee. I’ve also had a coffee routine that includes all day! Sometimes I blend soda into the routine in the afternoon and late into the evening. (By “sometimes” I mean constantly!) My nutritionist daughter has pointed out that I should probably lower my caffeine intake and maybe start drinking some water. I noted that most of my water is filtered water, it’s just filtered through coffee! She wasn’t buying what I was selling.

Come on, I’m the Minister of Mocha for crying out loud!

On my last visit with her I was gifted a H-U-G-E water bottle. You may have seen folks walking around with their hydration flasks, well this one puts most of those to shame. It’s 128 oz of pink glory. I’ve accepted the challenge, and Wednesday this week will mark 2 straight weeks of drinking the entire bottle. I try not to drink anything else before I finish it (let’s be real, there’s not a lot of room beyond that!)

Is it my favorite? Not by a long shot. On of the main reasons that I have eschewed water in the past is it’s distinct lack of flavor. However, I know that it’s good thing, so I’m trying to make a new habit. Today is another day in the chain. Who knows how long I’ll keep it going, but we work one day at a time, right? It may not be as delicious as a nice cup of joe, but today I’m doing it. I’ll watch my water level…

  1. They also make what’s called Sparkling Ice, which is basically water with carbonation, and different flavorings. I don’t know how much the carbonation will affect your health (as I know, carbonation helps to bloat your stomach), but it’s healthier than soda with all that sugar! On a personal note, I am 44 and drink 8 to 12 cups of coffee a day (with no dependence on it, I can go days without it with no adverse effects), but I have almost 100% weaned myself off of soda and other sugary drinks.
